Alessandro Scafi

Lecturer in Medieval and Renaissance Cultural history at the Warburg Institute, School of Advanced Study, University of London. Since 2011 he has run at the Warburg Institute (and since 2016 at the Italian Institute of Culture, London) with John Took a series of Dante public readings aimed at a general public.

Author of books like Mapping Paradise: A History of Heaven on Earth and essays on various aspects of the history of cartography and the history of pilgrimage. Alessandro Scafi has published several articles on Aby Warburg, the relationship between the Italian and Hungarian Renaissances and on Italian art and literature, in particular on Dante and Aeneas Sylvius Piccolomini.

He is the author of audioguides for museums and exhibitions and has been a contributor to a number of cultural broadcasts, for, among others, ArteZweites Deutsches Fernsehen, the BBC, Radio Rai, Swiss Radio and Vatican Radio. He contributes to The Times Literary SupplementL’Osservatore Romano and Il Sole 24 Ore.

Born in Venezia in 1989. Graduated MA in History and Social Sciences, he studied at Università di Padova, Université Paris 8 and Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (Lebanon) before continuing his specialization in Archival and Record Management.

He worked in public and privates historical archives being in charge of the archival processing and the valorization of different collections on Maghreb contemporary history. Phd candidate at Paris Sorbonne university, his main area of research interest is related to colonial and post-colonial economic history with a particular emphasis on social history of energy industry and sociology of work. Walker since 2011, he is co-founder and vice-president of  FuoriVia, a non-profit Italian association which builds its activity around walking along historical cultural routes in Europe and in the Mediterranean.

He also has extensive professional experience in private business: he worked for thirty years at Banco Pastor, where he held senior management positions.

He has been a member of the courts of Aragon during the 8th Legislature. He is currently the General Manager of Regional Planning under the Department of Basic Structuring of the Territory, Mobility and Housing of the Government of Aragon.

He is a professor in the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting at the University of A Coruña. He has participated in numerous courses and seminars on issues related to the agri-food sector of Galicia and has published articles on this subject.

María del Carmen Martínez Insua

General Manager of Cultural Heritage of the Department of Education and University Management of the Xunta de Galicia since 2013.

Graduated in Law, obtained the management diploma and is entitled in the upper course of public law. She began her administrative career at the General Directorate of Human Resources of SERGAS as legal technical adviser, and then to develop positions in the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Forestry. In 1996 she began to serve in the Department of Education and University Management, first in staff and student promotion and then in the headquarters of programming, hiring and equipment service. She also held technical and administrative support responsabilities at the Advisory Council for Administrative Recruiment of Galicia of the Ministryof Finance, and held, between 2009 and 2013, the post of deputy general director of constructions and equipment of the Department of Education and University Management.

The topics in which she usually works are related to public policies, gender equality and the search for and ordered tourist model integreated into the urban and social structure of the city. She is part of a broad group  of research on gender and politics with teachers and researchers from several universities in the state. In addition, she is a member of the Armela group, which analyzes the impact of the current economic crisis on the development and guarantee of social rights and equal opportunities among citizens.

Mónica Crisóstomo Besada specializes in Organization and Tourism Management and Graphic Design Advertising, has extensive experience in tourism planning, combining her work in Ideas Peregrines with her activity as a tourism consultant in Sherpa Project.

Both are members and creators of Ideas Pilgrim-Pilgrim Store, a concept designed to provide an integral service to the pilgrim located in Tui, awarded in 2017 with the Santiago de Compostela award in the category "Initiatives developed by small and medium enterprises."
