CORREOS shows in Santader their new services for the pilgrims of The Way’s north route and their updated web page.
Santander, May 3, 2018. CORREOS has presented on May 3, at its headquarters in Santander, the new services they have begun to provide this year for pilgrims who make the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Cantabria. All these services are gathered on the web www.elcaminoconcorreos.com, which has been updated with the incorporation of new information concerning Cantabria.
The head of the Office’s Network of Zone 2, Roberto Asensio, the responsible of Communication of El Camino with Correos, Charo Calvo, and the mailman of the capital, Manuel Francisco Poo, made this presentation. The web about the Camino de Santiago www.elcaminoconcorreos.com has been enlarged with new contents related to the Camino del Norte, seven of whose stages take place throughout Cantabria. The Jacobean Route enters Cantabria through Castro Urdiales and departs in Unquera. Last March, CORREOS began to carry out the baggage transfer service between stages in this itinerary, which aims to facilitate the realization of the Jacobean Route for those who do not want or can’t walk with luggage. With this service, the postmen are in charge of transporting the backpacks and suitcases to the hostels or hotels picked by the pilgrim, day by day and stage by stage. Through the web page, you can hire these transfers, and consult the information of each one of the stages, the accommodations, numbers of interest and also the advice of the postmen of our region who invite us to visit the cliffs of Castro, Puebla Vieja de Laredo, the hostel of Güemes, the Paseo de Castelar in Santander, the church of Santa Juliana or try the Cóbreces cheese.
On the occasion of the start of new services for pilgrims crossing the region, Correos’ website has uploaded 453 accommodations in Cantabria that are located in the towns of Camino del Norte. It consists of 21 pilgrim hostels, 199 hostels or pensions and 223 hotels.

On the web you can also find out the rest of CORREOS’ services for The Way: the Paq Bicicleta, so that the pilgrims who decide to do the Camino by bicycle can send it to the place where they want to start their route or back home when they finish it; or the Paq Peregrino, to send suitcases and backpacks to any point of the route, either where The Way starts or to free themselves of the weight they are accumulating. In addition, at the CORREOS’ office in Santiago, there’s a locker available for backpacks, suitcases, bikes or walking sticks. This way, you can enter the Cathedral, which does not allow access with backpacks; go to pick up the Compostela or visit the city without weights or charges.
Also, a few weeks ago CORREOS’ introduced in Santillana del Mar a stamp card dedicated to the Camino de la Costa, within the Los Caminos de Santiago del Norte Peninsular issue and as a propaganda element of the itinerary. This seal is completed with the tourist postmarks of the post offices that also serve to verify the realization of this pilgrimage and get the Compostela.
