CORREOS delivers in 'FairWay' the prizes to the winning photographs of the 'Values of the Way' contest
Santiago de Compostela, November 12, 2017.- CORREOS, in collaboration with the iPeregrinos pilgrims community, has presented the prizes to the winners of the "Values of the Way" photo contest during the opening day of 'Fairway', the professional fair of the Camino de Santiago that runs until Tuesday 14 at the Palacio de Congresos.
The mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Martiño Noriega, was in charge of awarding the first prize to Manuel Blanco, from Santiago de Compostela. The winning image was taken in the Plaza del Obradoiro and portrays two pilgrims hugging their arrival in Santiago, representing the value of the Force.
The second prize went to Pablo Collantes, from Madrid, with its nocturnal image of two pilgrims observing the Milky Way and representing Peace. He received the award from the president of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Valentín G. Formoso.
The director Zone of CORREOS, Ángel Pérez, presented the award to the third classified, Elia Álvarez Brito, from Seville, for his image on Hospitality, taken on his Camino Sanabrés to Santiago.
Iago Rodríguez, head of the community of pilgrims iPeregrinos, has been commissioned to give the prize to the image valued by Internet users in the Facebook of El Camino with Correos. The photograph was captured by Juan Carlos Navarro, from Albacete, and shows a pilgrim raising her arms in front of the Cathedral.
All winning images are exhibited at the Palacio de Congresos, so that the attendees of the fair can see the winning snapshots in quality format.
"The values of the Way in 12 months"
The contest "The Values of the Way of St. James" was summoned this summer through the Facebook page "El Camino con Correos". It involved more than 750 images that highlighted essential values of the Way of St. James and shared experiences and common experiences of the different Jacobean Routes.
These values are: strength, peace, sensitivity, solidarity, sustainability, diversity, integration, friendship, culture, hope, spirituality and hospitality. This is the second year that CORREOS and iPeregrinos launch a photography contest on the Camino de Santiago.
Inauguration of the Exhibition of the First Antarctic Pilgrimage
Those attending Fairway can also see the photographic exhibition "Camino Blanco-Camino Antártico", which summarizes in images the longest Jacobean Route ever made: 14,075 kilometers from the Antarctic Base "Gabriel de Castilla" to Compostela. CORREOS collaborated with the already baptized pingüirinos and transported their luggage during the final stages of the pilgrimage.
The 1st Antarctic Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is a Jacobean project promoted by the Spanish Federation of Friends of the Way of St. James Associations. Its president, Luis Gutiérrez Perrino, has been in charge of inaugurating the show in Fairway.
