Postmen from all over Galicia support a group of university students from 13 countries who travel the Way of St. James
Santiago de Compostela, March 19, 2018.- CORREOS collaborates these days with the international team of university students from 13 countries that is carrying out the Sanabrés Path with the World Tourism Organization, the Helsinki Spain Network and the Compostela Group of Universities. CORREOS workers from all over Galicia provide logistical assistance to this group of more than 100 students that analyzes sustainable tourism projects and the value of human rights on the Camino.
CORREOS collaborates with the initiative, offering its services of El Camino with Correos, designed for pilgrims who make the Camino de Santiago, such as the Paq Mochila, for the transport of baggage stage by stage, day by day, accommodation in accommodation or consignment service.
Day after day, the postmen provide them with logistical support, they come to share their experience with the students and they give them pre-ordered postcards so that they can write to their countries of origin and tell their experiences on the Camino.
The French Way from Sarria, the Northern Way from Vilalba, the Portuguese Way from Tui and the Sanabresa Route from Ourense are the 4 pilgrimages that these specialized students are doing, enrolled in about twenty universities in Europe, Africa and America. The team arrived in Galicia on Saturday and before starting the different roads, they deposited their suitcases with clothes and belongings in the Main Office of CORREOS in Santiago de Compostela, located in the Rúa do Franco, 2 minutes from the Cathedral.
This week, the university students will perform the different stages and arrive in Santiago on Thursday, where they will be received by the archbishop of Santiago de Compostela, Julián Barrio; representatives of the Xunta de Galicia and the Xacobeo together with other authorities. On Friday 23 will participate in Santiago in the International University Forum 'The Value of Human Rights on the Camino de Santiago', which will also be present CORREOS, and will be received in the Parliament of Galicia.
