Concert IN FESTO SANCTI JACOBI- VOX STELLAE
There are many composers, especially in Spain, who have composed music for the solemnities of St. James, either for the commemoration of his martyrdom (25 July) or for the translation of his remains (December 30). The repertoire to be interpreted in this concert pretends to be a sample of the composition dedicated to Santiago from the XII century until the XVIII century, including music from the archive of the Galician cathedrals of Santiago de Compostela and Tui; and works of great renaissance authors.
Vox Stellae was born in 2002 on the occasion of a conference of the musiclogist José López Calo on music in the Cathedral of Santiago. One of its hallmarks is the diffusion of galician music, both the cathedral's archives as contemporary creation and popular music.
