A tour on the history of the art Xacobeo
Maria Pereiro Otero; Director of cultural action of the Foundation "Cidade da Cultura", explains the process carried out for the accomplishment of this exhibition, from the formation of the team to the final result.
Firstly, Pereira illustrates about the emergence of this idea in the year 2012, which are intended to add value to our cultural heritage and interact with the outside from different points of view, through collaboration with international institutions, an important component for the birth of this project. Pereiro alludes to the importance of a competent team to achieve the set objectives, praising the work of the curator of the exhibition María García-Alen. Then makes mention of the dimensions that have wanted to cover using this self-made work, q range from a historical view to a more emotional approach, through the direct participation of the pilgrims through his own testimony.
To continue, mentions the transcendent participation of sponsors and santiaguesas associations linked to the road, without which would not have been possible to develop this project. Through 150 pieces this exhibition aims to show the origin of Santiago, from the figure of the Apostle and the discovery of their remains, to sample some of the most important stretches of the road, which we will see their most precious treasures, through which we evocaremos the experiences of the past.
Finally taking the word Jesús Irisarri; architect responsible for the design of the exhibition, who kicks off his presentation by referring to the relevance of the Apostle Santiago, figure that it has left its mark both in relation to history and tradition, as to artistic creation and the transformation of the territory. Irisarri also poses difficulties involved in transporting the landscape of the Way to an enclosure, work for which they have had to use their ability to create spaces, trying to produce emotions and sensations to convey the essence of the real Way, transferring the stay elsewhere through art.
