Safety on the Way: the Cavalry of Valdemoro

Civil Guard Cavalry Squadron was born in 1958, constituting a fundamental support to the territorial units of the different commands and performing identical functions to them. This Squadron is specially trained for the fulfilment of its tasks according to the peculiarities of their means and form of action. This unit also reinforce the different territorial units in the exercise of its powers, plays a relevant task of protection and help the Pilgrim, by the patrol constant in the reverse of the normal progress of the pilgrims, to thus bumping against them and thus meet their needs when appropriate. On the other hand we should highlight the advantage which is to use the horse as a means of transport, since it grants greater accessibility to rough places allowing to carry out its services more effectively. Currently the squadron of cavalry is based in the town of Valdemoro (Madrid) and has 120 troops and 140 horses to carry out its tasks.
Captain Blázquez insists the efforts developed by the different organizations that are part of the Way, alluding to the creation of an entity that encompasses the real needs of the same. By another band, it highlights the efforts carried out by the squad when it comes to orient its services in a concrete way, to thus be able to safeguard the integrity of the pilgrims.
Finally Blázquez insists on the importance of proactive security for the proper performance of their functions. It also highlights the significance of the external image of Spain in reference to the subject that is incumbent upon us, praising the different measures carried out to improve the perception of the same.
