Discovering the Way of St.Olav
Hagelien starts his presentation transmitting their knowledge about the origin of the Way, in which Olav; reputed Viking Chief, was sent to sea in full youth to learn the arts and knowledge of the Viking world, task carried out with ease, traveling throughout the world and to meet with a wide range of personalities. In one of his trips he met Christianity through the Duke of Normandy, by adopting it as their religion. He was on his way back to Norway when they proclaimed him King and decided to promote their religion, uniting the country under a new Christian legislation. King Olav traveled throughout Norway to bring Christianity to the North and the interior of the country, their unitary vision of it led him to major clashes that led to his exile. After two long years Olav returned to confront his enemies in a great battle, in which finally perished. His men hid his body and was transferred to the Church of Trondheim, where he was buried. After his death it was said that your hair and your nails continued to grow, giving the origin of various miracles, that led him to be proclaimed a Saint in 1032 to Olav. Since then, pilgrims from all places of the world start you your andanza in order to reach the tomb of the Saint Viking.
On the other hand, Hagelein emphasizes the importance of the development of the Way,which initially was a perilous journey of complicated terrain, but which over the years evolved, through the construction of the Cathedral and several lodges that gradually managed to forge a secure and stable Way.
