The role of Civil Protection in Santiago de Compostela
We remind the intervention in the first round of Fairway Begoña del Río on The Role of Civil Protection in Santiago de Compostela.
As head of Civil Protection Santiago, Begoña del Río has extensive experience in citizen protection and actions in case of emergencies related to the Way.
In his presentation, he defends and puts in value the work of Civil Defence volunteers, young boys and girls mostly altruistically decide to give up their time to help others.
Begoña explains that the main functions of volunteers, highlights the care offered to pilgrims arriving in Santiago, and help when solving any emergency happens in during the stretches of road within the limits of the region.
Another aspect that highlights during his talk, is the collaboration of volunteers with the forces and security bodies which he considers very important; Heritage protection Camino de Santiago, so that everyone can enjoy it.
In addition, Begoña also states that "If at any site can be found altruism, solidarity and companionship is on the Way".
