Fairway is the setting chosen by institutions and companies to present their novelties on the Camino
The kick-off of the third edition of the Forum on the Camino de Santiago will take place this Sunday, February 11, with an open day: Fairway Open Day. The great celebration of the Jacobean Route will begin at 9:30 in the morning in the Plaza del Obradoiro with a route through the different roads that join in Santiago, and for which the capacity has already been completed with 200 participants.
While the route runs, at 12:30 and already at the Palacio de Congresos, the official opening of the event will take place, which will be attended by Jorge Duarte, second deputy mayor and councilor of Espacios Cidadáns, Dereito a Vivenda, Mobilidade e Relationships Veciñais de Santiago; Antonio Leira, Deputy of Economy and Facade and of Sport and Mocidade of the Deputation of Corunna; Ángel Pérez, territorial director of Correos (main sponsor of the event through elcaminoconcorreos.com); and the co-directors of Fairway, Ana García (Trevisani), Manuel Oreiro (Viajes Viloria) and Tono Mugico (Mr. Turismo).
At 10:30 am, the recreational activities of the day will begin with the first escape room sessions, followed by mindfulness workshops and a cooking workshop for children taught by the chef of the Manso restaurant, Alberto Lareo. For these activities, which have limited capacity, the registration will take place during the same morning in the Conference Center itself.
The cuisine of the Camino will have its main course starting at 1:30 p.m. in Gastroway, a space where visitors can taste a selection of tapas inspired by typical dishes of the different Jacobean roads at € 2 per skewer and which include, among others, the Asturian fabada and the Marmitako del Camino del Norte; the potatoes from La Rioja and the lamb with chilindrón from the French Way; the crumbs of Extremadura or the garlic soup of the Vía de la Plata; the pataniscas de bacalhau or the grelhado frango of the Portuguese Way; and the artisan pie or the Santiago cake that pilgrims can taste when they enter Galicia.
In the afternoon, the activities will continue with a playroom for the little ones, a space for canine adoption and a talk at 5:00 p.m. on how to do the Camino with four-legged companions. They will put the finishing touch to Fairway's Open Day, the stories about the roads that the narrator Celso Fernández Sanmartín will tell from 6:00 p.m., and then (7:00 p.m.) an intimate concert of the well-known gaiteira and cantareira Susana Seivane, who this month celebrates the twenty anniversaries of the release of her first album.
An event that brings together industry professionals
After the Open Day, on Monday and Tuesday, the activity will be focused on the professional public, which in this edition will significantly increase its presence at the event. In this way, the fair of the Forum del Camino will have more than a hundred exhibitors from all the Jacobean routes; while the workshop will gather in more than 1,400 citations to companies and organizations interested in publicizing their products, destinations and services with large operators from more than a dozen countries, including South Africa and Australia.
In addition, during both days there will be a congress with conferences and discussion tables on the latest developments, trends and current concerns of the sector linked to the Camino de Santiago, which will address issues such as road safety, regulations in accommodation or the next Xacobeo of 2021.
The activities are complemented on Monday, February 11 with Fairway Academy, a series of practical workshops and conferences on digital marketing and online reputation aimed at tourism professionals and taught by renowned experts such as Mabel Cajal, Rafael González of Vivential Value or Laura Rampérez of Inturea; and on Tuesday the 12th with Fairway Invest, a space in the entrepreneurs and startups will be able to establish contacts with investors in order to find financing to materialize their projects linked to the pilgrimage path.
Administration and company will present their new products in Fairway
Likewise, the Forum del Camino is consolidated in its third edition as the ideal framework to present new tourism projects and products, both public and private, linked to the Jacobean Route. This is evidenced by the more than ten official presentations that will take place within the framework of the event, for which the councils of A Coruña, Pontevedra and Lugo, Turismo de Santiago, different consortiums and associations, or entities such as Correos and El Corte Inglés, are betting.
On Monday the 11th the Deputación da Coruña, represented by the provincial deputy of Deportes e Mocidade, Antonio Leira, will speak at 11 o'clock on the English Way with the sports presenter Terio Carrera; the coach of Obradoiro CAB, Moncho Fernández; and professional ex-cyclist Ezequiel Mosquera. At 11:20 it will be the turn of Ángel Pérez, Correos in the North Zone, who will present the new products of the entity for the Camino; and already at 12:30 pm will be the president of the Diputación de Pontevedra, Carmela Silva, who, along with the actor Rubén Riós, will present the video of the new campaign "Fame de experiencias no Camiño".
Between the presentations of Tuesday 12 we will find the one of "Lugo, of Way", that will realize the delegate of Tourism and Culture of the Diputación de Lugo, Eduardo Vidal Baamonde; or the one of the Italian routes of Francisco de Asís in the region of Umbria, in charge of Raffaella Rossi, director of the Consorzio Francesco's Ways.
