Discussion Boards

In the previous edition of Fairway, held in November 2017, the round tables were formulated by roads. But we found then that the topics that were put on the table were common, that is to say, that in all the variants of the route the same preoccupations were raised. For this reason, on this occasion we have decided to go to the background of these specific themes, coinciding with those that aroused most interest, namely: how Xacobeo 2021 is presented, security on the Camino and the controversy that, on occasion, generates Accommodation offer.

We also propose changing the format, both for operational issues and for making it more dynamic and open to greater participation. In this way, a moderator will present the theme and the poster of participants (one at a time for each intervention), in addition to being in charge of measuring the exposure times and, finally, give way and manage the batch of questions from the public. The first person to take the floor will be an expert who will carry out a technical, detailed and general presentation of the subject. Next, each one of the speakers will intervene for a maximum time of ten minutes, in which they will have the opportunity to contribute their point of view according to the sector they represent. Finally, a dialogue with the audience will be opened.

Discussion table: Lodging on the Road, regulations and controversies

Participants in the debate will talk about the regulations that affect tourist accommodation and will try to determine who and how to act in cases of intrusion or legislative failure.

Thousands of small and medium enterprises have proliferated along the different Jacobean routes in order to meet the demands of the pilgrims. Their role as economic promoters is undeniable. However, business opportunities also bring out the picaresque or practices considered as intrusive. Therefore, this table was born with the aim of delving into the problems that arise when it comes to providing lodging to the pilgrim, as well as in the controversy generated by the practices of the so-called collaborative economy, now so in vogue.
