The I Camino hiking trail will open Fairway on Sunday, February 10
Fairway, the great forum of the Camino de Santiago that arrives in February to its third edition, wants to become a meeting place for all audiences. For this reason, it has developed a complete and varied agenda of activities for its opening day on Sunday, February 10, which will precede the two days of fair and congress aimed at professionals. Fairway 2019 will be held at the Palacio de Congresos de Santiago de Compostela.
I Camino
The open day, which is called Fairway Open Day, will begin with a hiking proposal: I Camino. It is a route designed especially by Fairway with the objective of uniting the five variants of the Jacobean roads that converge in the city of the Apostle so that we will find ourselves face to face with the pilgrims who are about to reach their goal.
Apart from small sections of the French Way, the Portuguese Way, the English Way, the Fisterra Way and the Vía de la Plata, the walkers will pass during their journey through places and monuments of great interest that are often left out of the traditional tourist tours, like the Romanesque collegiate church of Sar or the monastery of La Merced in Conxo, which was an independent concello until 1925. In addition, the tour allows visitors to see such emblematic parks as those of Belvís and Bonaval and to walk along the river path of the Sar River.
In Fairway, the participants in I Camino will be able to know more about the places they go through thanks to the brief descriptions and anecdotes that the guides will offer them, who will signal the route and will act as companions.
Surprises and credentials
I Camino is a route initially thought for all those people who like to go out and walk as a healthy habit. The basic complete itinerary, which is the one proposed for Fairway Open Day, comprises around sixteen kilometers and can be completed in approximately four hours. However, the brochure includes variants that lengthen the route so that walkers can make them on their own later.
Within the framework of Fairway, I Camino will present a playful side with several surprises and a credential, called A Santiaguesa, which will be given to all travelers who stamp their booklet at the points set by the organization.
Participation is free and free but registration is needed because places are limited. Those interested can send their information to the email program@fairwaysantiago.com.
Complete program
I Camino will depart at 9:30 p.m. from Praza do Obradoiro and will have as its goal the Palacio de Congresos. Once there, we invite all hikers to continue enjoying the activities programmed in Fairway Open Day, which range from gastronomy with a proposal to enjoy typical recipes of the Camino at popular prices to a concert by Susana Seivane through children's workshops, canine adoptions or mindfulness sessions.
