An interfaith pilgrimage to give a message of peace to the world
As explained in a few post, the pilgrimage experience is common and constant in almost every known culture. It is a universal experience that enriches spiritually and culturally to human communities. In ancient times, thanks to pilgrimages news traveled and artistic techniques, scientific progress and material wealth were shared. One of the defining characteristics of Western society of the third millennium is the übercomunicación: the minute we know what happens at the other end of the world but the information highway may lose something as important as the experience and context. A loss that reduces the novelty mere caricature, the trivialization of the other when it can be assimilated into the cultural preset coordinates. From August 30 a group of 120 people will travel 107 kilometers from the French Way in its course by León. The particularity of this large group of pilgrims is that it is composed of people of many faiths: Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Hindus and Baha'is will complete the road to make a plea for dialogue and peace.
The group plans to finish his tour of Leon on 6 September. Pilgrims have chosen the slogan A different world is possible to summarize the spirit of this pilgrimage, an idea that will try to convey there over which the group. The aim is to present the common values shared by religions and their contribution to the coexistence and social development.
This action also aims to overcome barriers and isolation to separate their different beliefs to achieve a spiritual renewal that responds to the mainstream of society, attached to the economic, social, business and scientific materialism.
For more on this message, the group has prepared activities for each stage of the Way. The program is geared to disclose each confession to report that there is more that unites them than separates them. There will be times of celebration, sharing, reflection, leisure, silence... prayer times every denomination be respected and there will be monks and spiritual leaders of different faiths can lead prayers and reflections.
This space of coexistence and dialogue want to have continuity, and one of his aspirations is to achieve a process of interfaith encounter between the different communities of believers in Spain.
The pilgrimage is organized by the Iberian Monastic Interreligious Dialogue Commission of the Jewish community Masorti Bet-El, the Turkish House Arc Forum, the Dag Shang Kagyu Buddhist community, the Baha'i community of Spain, the Foro Abraham and the Indian Association Forum Veda Dharma. At each stage a different religious group is responsible for the direction of the journey that will cross the towns of Sahagun, El Burgo Ranero, Mansilla de las Mulas, San Miguel del Camino Hospital Órbigo, Astorga and Rabanal del Camino. In addition, the pilgrimage will be in solidarity with the Growing organization in Nepal, which helps troubled youth of this country following the earthquake last spring.
