Fairway will celebrate its tenth anniversary with an edition packed with new features. The Camino de Santiago Forum, the only professional meeting point for this sector, will take place between 9 and 11 November at the Cidade da Cultura de Galicia and will feature an extensive programme of activities open to the public.
‘We want to bring the event even closer to the people of Santiago,’ explain the organisers. To this end, there will be a variety of activities on offer, including gastronomic events, which will play a prominent role in this sixth edition of Fairway. ‘In addition, we will have surprises for everyone who comes to our fair on any of the three days, which is free to attend,’ they add. The day with the most activities will be Sunday 9 November, with the traditional Open Day celebration.
The fair will be held at the Museo de la Cidade da Cultura from 9 to 11 November. Here you will find all kinds of exhibitors: national and international destinations, service companies, equipment, hotels, travel agencies, associations linked to the different routes, tourist guides, marketing and new technologies… Thus, a wide range of tourist offers related to the Caminos de Santiago will be presented.
The largest workshop
Another key section is the workshop, which will take place on 10 and 11 November. This year, it will feature a total of 42 tour operators from 18 countries, from places as varied as Germany, Argentina, Australia, the United States, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Portugal and South Africa. More than 100 companies will have the opportunity to meet with these international ‘Hosted Buyers’ who operate on the Camino de Santiago. More than 3,000 business meetings will be scheduled, making this the largest Workshop in the history of Fairway, with the greatest number of nationalities.
Tourism and Camino Forum
Touristification will be the theme of the 6th Fairway Forum on the Camino de Santiago. To address this from different perspectives, the Tourism and Camino Forum will be held on 10 and 11 November. Round tables on issues such as tourist tax, coexistence between residents and visitors, and changes to obtaining the Compostela will be the focus of the exchange of views by different public and private representatives.
In line with its philosophy of promoting specific, high-quality training for professionals in the sector, Fairway will also offer two practical sessions on the latest trends. In this regard, the use of artificial intelligence in business management and data interpretation will be the focus of this year’s proposals.
Registration for both the Open Day and the Tourism and Camino Forum activities will open on 20 October, as places are limited. Registration must be completed by filling in a form on the event website www.fairwaysantiago.com.
