Fairway finalises preparations for its most international edition yet, with the largest number of activities

The Museo da Cidade da Cultura is in full swing with the setting up of the VI Fairway. More than 70 exhibitors are participating in the Fair, which will take place between 9 and 11 November. The event is celebrating its tenth anniversary with its most international edition yet (with 43 tour operators from 18 countries in the Workshop) and more leisure activities than ever before.

In addition, the Tourism and Camino Forum, to be held on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 November, will feature interesting panel discussions on the sector and training workshops with leading national professionals. For the first time, the colloquiums will offer an AI-powered automatic translation service into four languages (Galician, Spanish, Portuguese and English).

The organisers are very pleased with the ‘excellent reception’ given to the more than thirty activities that will be offered during the event, and more specifically this Sunday. ‘Currently, there are only a few places left for the children’s origami workshops and the iCamino,’ they say. Similarly, places for Monday’s activities are already sold out, with only a few remaining for Tuesday.

More than five hundred participants are expected to take part in the various activities with limited places on the Open Day. Among the most popular initiatives are the gastronomic workshops led by Jorge Guitián, with Vermouth and Cheese, and José Manuel Mallón, with show cooking of artisan food products with PDO and PGI certification. Similarly, the final concert by Xabier Díaz is sold out and has a waiting list, as is the case with the various escape room sessions.

Full menu at Gastroway – Vermut & Tapas A paisaxe que sabe

The organisers remind us that at midday, anyone who wishes to do so can visit Gastroway – Vermut & Tapas A paisaxe que sabe, run by the Provincial Council of A Coruña, and enjoy a vermouth session hosted by Señora DJ, ‘with free admission and no capacity restrictions’. Between 1.30 pm and 5 pm, visitors will be able to sample products and dishes prepared by renowned chefs from the province.

‘We have prepared it in such a way that you can have a tasting menu,’ explain the organisers. Thus, you can start with Vermú Lodeiros and Patatas Bonilla, followed by starters from Cienporcel (Celtic pork chorizo and salchichón and Campo Capela semi-cured cheese), A Conserveira (pickled mussels, sardines in oil and scallops in scallop sauce) and La Empanada Viajera (with varieties based on xoubas; zorza and Padrón peppers, and leek, almond and San Simón cheese).

The main dishes can be sampled at Chichalovers, with two burger buns: the first, with pork crackling, smoked sauce and San Simón de Prestes cheese (called Jastas Pista), and the second, with pork crackling, chipotle sauce and sweet and sour gherkins (Arredemo). The Abella Espazo Gastronómico stall also offers the following delicacies: slow-cooked Celtic pork cheeks with roasted pumpkin and brioche filled with Galician oxtail, pickled red onion, fermented habanero mayonnaise and mature Arzúa-Ulloa cheese.

For dessert, the Asociación Cultural de la Filloa de Lestedo (with filloas filled with truffle, custard, strawberries and cream, and caramel mousse) and Xearte Brigitte (with strawberry ice cream, Arzúa-Ulloa cheese and Tarta de Santiago) will be offering their creations. The tasting is completely free of charge.

At the same time, visitors can also see the exhibition Elías Valiñas: The inventor of the yellow arrows. The exhibition, consisting of explanatory panels and images, can be visited in the auditorium foyer during the three days of the event.

Drawing for great gifts for completing the My Camino credential

To mark the tenth anniversary of Fairway’s creation, the organisation will hold daily drawings for trips, experiences and packs of products with quality and origin labels among visitors who complete their My Camino credential. To participate, interested parties must collect their credential at the Secretariat and visit the VI Fairway fair to collect up to 10 stamps. Four of these stamps can be obtained at the stands of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, INORDE, the Region of Murcia and the Regional Government of Galicia (in the Experiences of Quality – AGACAL area). Once the card has been completed, participants must return to the Secretariat for verification, fill in their contact details and deposit their entry in the box.

The draws will take place every day at 6.45 p.m. Winners must be present to receive their prize. On Sunday 9th, there will be a draw for a 3-night trip to Ilha Terceira (Azores) for 2 people (courtesy of YuTravel); a stay at Caldaria Hoteles Balnearios for two people (Inorde) and a selection of Galician products of exceptional quality (PDO, IXP, organic production and artisan food). On Monday 10th November, an experience in Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia) for two people (Murcia Regional Tourism Board) and a selection of high-quality Galician products will be given away. On Tuesday 11 November, there will be a prize draw for a stay at the Beche cabins (Abegondo) for two people (Association of Municipalities of the English Way) and a selection of premium Galician products.
