Castile and Leon
Castile and Leon is one of the Spanish regions with the greatest cultural, heritage, ethnographic and natural riches. It features 11 of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, more than 300 castles, almost 400 museums, as well as 23,000 archaeological sites. It has also 100 festivals that have been declared to be of regional, national and international interest, of which the Holy Week stands out –8 of Spain’s 22 internationally renowned Holy Week celebrations are held here. Its cuisine is another attraction, featuring a great variety of dishes prepared with produce enjoying Designations of Origin guaranteeing their quality. Castile and Leon occupies a privileged position in Spain’s wine-producing map. It features 14 Designations of Origin, a Protected Geographical Indication (“Tierra de Castilla y León”), and 8 certified Wine Routes.
