Federação Portuguesa do Caminho de Santiago
Today, the contribution of the Portuguese Caminos leading to Santiago de Compostela in the sociocultural and tourist development of the different regions that they pass through and their respective positive impacts in the local economy, mainly in inland Portugal. This context led, in May 2019, to the creation of the Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago, a project that was being prepared since 2015 by several founding partners, with the respective support of Portugal Tourism and the Directorate General for Culture.
The Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago therefore arose due to the need for an organisation that would enable the coordination of all matters related to the Camino de Santiago in Portugal, associating Municipal Districts, Pilgrim Associations, and all the private institutions centred on this project, or public documents related to this subject.
